Is your municipality prepared to meet the requirements for asset management in Michigan?
Is your municipality positioned for success with asset management funding opportunities?
The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) has issued a requirement for all municipalities with a water system serving more than 1000 people to implement an Asset Management Program by January 1, 2018 (under the Michigan Safe Drinking Water Act 399 Rule 1606).
Asset Management Programs must include the following:
1. Summary of asset inventory system
2. Criticality of assets summary considering the likelihood/consequence of failure
3. A statement of level of service goals
4. A capital improvements plan that identifies waterworks system needs for 5-year and 20-year planning periods
5. Funding structure and rate methodology summary that provides sufficient resources for Asset Management Plan implementation
