TRANSFORMING NOVA SCOTIA’S SOCIAL SERVICES: A CLIENT-CENTERED APPROACH
NANCY MACLELLAN, NOVA SCOTIA DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY SERVICES

People turn to the Department of Community Services (DCS) when they have their greatest need. They may have lost a job, they may be raising a child with complex needs, or they may be fleeing an abusive relationship. They may be trying to overcome addictions, or deal with mental health challenges, or they may be living with physical disabilities and need help to live independently and as part of their community. Helping Nova Scotians live their best and most productive lives, through social programs and service, is our ultimate goal. It is why we exist as a department, and what drives our work every day.
