French vanilla, dark roast, espresso. Canadians can now choose 100-percent compostable coffee pods thanks to innovation in Canadian agriculture. Research is also leading the way in developing and testing hemp fibre as reinforcement for hoods and fenders on tractors – helping farmers reduce their environmental footprint and opening the door for potential new revenue streams. Canadian researchers and private industry are finding ingenious ways to turn agricultural crops and residues – like stalks and leaves – into environmentally-friendly coffee pods, school bus seats, auto parts, and even aerospace products. These products contribute to the transition to a cleaner Canadian economy and respond to consumer and retailer demand for environmentally-friendly alternatives.
