COLLABORATION IS KEY FOR GROWING & PROTECTING URBAN FORESTS

Every tree needs strong roots. In this way, non-profits and municipalities work very well together. Local governments rely on the province for political guidance and financial support, but they rely on non-profits to engage the communities in ways that they cannot.  Non-profits can do so by tapping into a pool of citizens who are connected to their community and can be mobilized around very specific issues and interests. This is not a one-way street where work is downloaded to community groups that rely on donations and small revenue-generating programs. Instead, the key to sustainability is mutually beneficial partnerships between non-profit organizations and municipal leaders.
